Manager of the Year Award

                   

In 1968, five chapters of CMAA (Metropolitan, NYC, NJ, CT, and New England, then known as Region I) launched the Tanqueray Club Manager of the Year Award. Tanqueray sponsored the event, funding the program and providing a green jacket for each recipient, who was selected by vote.

After Tanqueray ended its sponsorship, Absolut took over, introducing a navy jacket, which was presented until 2008.

In 2025, the Metropolitan Chapter relaunched the program in honor of our friend, Dennis Murphy, who was an honorary member of the Chapter and a strong supporter of our community. His legacy is most notably tied to his leadership in organizing and facilitating the Region I Club Manager of the Year Award for nearly 40 years, and to his dedication to celebrating excellence in our profession.

The Metropolitan Chapter of CMAA is pleased to bestow membership into our Hall of Fame to a committed Chapter member in the professional category who is actively participating and in good standing and currently employed in a management role at a club with a minimum of 25 years of membership with the Chapter. In addition, membership is bestowed to any current Chapter member in the professional category in good standing who has been at a single club for 25 years and who has attained the position of General Manager by their 25th year.
